T23 -Hengill Hike in South Western Iceland -duration 3 days

Three day program for active and indepentent travellers. Walk from Fosshótel Hengill, close to Nesjavellir geothermal power plant, over soft hills and through wide valleys towards the mountain Ölkelduhnúkur at the foot of Mt. Hengill. Below the mountain hut of Dalasel is a spectacular hot spring area and a hidden waterfall in the deep gorge of Klambragil. Descend into Reykjadalur valley where you can take a bath in a warm/hot river before walking through the valley passing Djúpagil gorge and its impressive waterfall, down to the parking place at Árhólmar, close to the village of Hveragerði.

Distance: Around 15 km; walking time ca. 6-8 hours.
