Fosshótel Laugar is located in Northeast Iceland and offers 50 rooms with shower/wc, TV & phone and sleepingbag accommodation, a restaurant, bar, two breakfast rooms, a reception with 24 hours service, internet station and free parking. All guestrooms and restaurant/bar facilities are non-smoking
Fosshótel Laugar is a 2/3 star type Comfort Tourist Class hotel, operated as a summer hotel, which is partly used as a boarding school during the winter. We provide spacious rooms with private facilties and sleepingbag accommodations in class rooms for 10-15 persons. The rooms are located in 2 buildings.
How to get there
The village of Laugar is located on road # 1 between Lake Mývatn and the town of Akureyri. Coming from Akureyri: drive road # 1 and about 15 km after passing the waterfall “Goðafoss” you will reach Laugar. The hotel is located on the left side of the main road and features several large white buildings with a red roof. The front desk is located in the building with the Fosshotel flags and next to the small duck pond. There is an excellent new outdoor swimming pool next door to Fosshótel Laugar. The hotel buildings are used as a boarding school from September to May. Laugar is very centrally located to visit Goðafoss waterfall, the whale watching town of Húsavík, Lake Myvatn and Akureyri, as the capital of North Iceland.

Gateway to some of the region’s greatest attractions, including the waterfalls Goðafoss, Dettifoss, and Ásbyrgi canyon, Laugar is also close to some of Iceland’s greatest trout and salmon rivers, including the legendary Laxá in Aðaldalur.
