How to get there
Coming from the East Fjords on road # 1: Fosshotel Vatnajokull is located on road # 1 about 8 km west of the town of Hofn and about 5 minutes drive after the airport of Hofn. The hotel is located on the left side of the road, two white buildings with a red roof. You will see a Fosshotel sign and a Fosshotel flag by the road.
Coming from Skaftafell drive east on road # 1 and Fosshotel Vatnajokull is located on road # 1 about 8 km west of the town of Hofn, on the right side of the road, two white buildings with a blue roof. You will see a Fosshotel sign and a Fosshotel flag by the road.
Sleep next to Europe’s largest glacier
Vatnajokull, Europe’s largest glacier (8,456 m2), provides the dramatic setting for Fosshotel Vatnajokull, located by the main ring road 10 km from the port of Hofn and 5 km from the town’s airport.
Activities range from guided Superjeep glacier tours, boat trips on the Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon with floating icebergs or a visit to the alpine setting of Skaftafell National Park, to seal and bird watching, fishing, hiking and horseback riding. Ice-land, the glacier museum in Hofn is a fascinating multimedia exhibition on Iceland´s largest ice cap, Vatnajokull.
